Our second highly commended award went to the Additional Support for Learning Services for their project, Really Listening – Emotion Talks Framework. Emotion Talks was developed in order to encourage those working with children to truly listen to the voices of the child and to help Edinburgh’s children become emotionally literate.
Winners
The judging panel decided to award joint winners in this category for work being undertaken in two secondary schools in the area of wellbeing. The first winning school was Tynecastle High School for their project, Promoting Mental and Emotional Wellbeing through the Growing Confidence Programme. This project demonstrates a rich and joined-up approach to promoting positive mental and emotional wellbeing for students, parents and staff through partnership working.

The second winning project in the category was Cool, Calm and Connected – Peer Education at Wester Hailes Education Centre. Sixth year students deliver mental health and wellbeing training to peers in their own school showing mutual benefits to both educators and educatees.
Judges commented:
Our joint winners show how two schools demonstrate commitment to changing attitudes and promoting positive mental health. The power of peer mentors is clear to see.
